Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), formerly Sathyabama University, is a deemed to be university, situated at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1987 as Sathyabama Engineering College by the late Jeppiaar and received its deemed to be university status in 2001.[2]
Location
The university is in Sholinganallur about 15 km from Adyar in Chennai. It has a campus of 400 acres. The university is located on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (formerly known as Old Mahabalipuram Road and popularly known as IT Corridor).
Accreditation and certification
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 'A' Grade.SATHYABAMA has received ISO 9001:2008 certification.The University is accredited by the governing body, National Buildings Organisation (NBO), Computer science engineering department latestly got the privilege of being accredited by NBO.
Placement
A total of 210 companies participated in the recruitment process in 2021 and offered around 1,335 job roles. Out of this 353 were dream offers, 27 were super dream offers and 115 were core and product offers. The highest package offered stood at INR 27 LPA, whereas, the average package was INR 4.75 LPA. The overall placement rate achieved was 91.20%.
Commonly known as the Sathyabama, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as Sathyabama University) is a Christian minority institution in Chennai with deemed-to-be university status. It was established in 1987 as the Sathyabama Engineering College and was conferred the deemed-to-be university in 2001. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has declared Sathyabama as a Category-A University. It also holds NAAC A-Grade and NBA accreditations.
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology offers more than 70 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in Engineering, Arts, Science, Humanities, Law, Business Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, Dental Sciences, Design, and Architecture. Apart from the regular degree courses, the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology extends five online courses at the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), including two UG and three PG programmes.
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology has collaborations and partnerships with numerous organisations for academic and research purposes.
